The "Northeast Asia Long Journey" sightseeing train had its inaugural run on the 8th in Hunchun City, Jilin Province, and is set to become a new symbol of tourism connecting China, Russia and North Korea.

The "Northeast Asia Long Journey" sightseeing train is a collaborative effort by the Jilin Northeast Asia Railway Group Co., Ltd, the Tourism College of Changchun University and CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., leveraging the geographical advantages of the Hunchun Railway Port. This project involves the integration of various aspects such as train design, sightseeing routes, platform renovations, interior decorations and operational services, under the framework of "production, learning, research, innovation and application." The train aims to offer an international tourism experience that combines "border views of the three nations, European-style train experiences and AI technology exploration," and is also referred to as the "Shared Laboratory of Cultural Tourism and Education in Jilin."

The inaugural route, Line 1, departs from Hunchunnan Railway Station, runs along the Tumen River, bordering China, North Korea and Russia, passing through scenic spots such as the National Forest Park and the Tumen River Estuary, and then returns to Hunchunnan Railway Station. The total distance of the journey is 68 kilometers, with a travel time of approximately three hours. The train's interior is decorated in a style reminiscent of Russian palaces, offering Russian-style Western cuisine and a cultural exchange experience between China and Russia, allowing passengers to enjoy the border scenery while experiencing diverse cultures.

In addition to Route 1, the "Northeast Asia Long Journey" will introduce five more sightseeing routes. These will operate in different phases under the themes of "border tours + cross-border tours + river-sea-rail combined tours," creating a convenient and economical international passenger sightseeing corridor that offers various distance options and multi-modal choices by river-sea-rail cross-border services. The "Northeast Asia Long Journey" train will also connect with existing international postal trains, offering tourists a broader range of shopping, dining and entertainment experiences through cross-border e-commerce and comprehensive bonded platforms.

Hunchun, located at the junction of China, Russia and North Korea, is known as the place where "one can see three countries at a glance." As one of China's four major railway port channels to Russia, the Hunchun Railway Port has always played a key role as a transportation and logistics hub, contributing significantly to the development and opening up of Jilin Province and the growth of foreign trade.
